At AECO Energy Singapore
Building a brighter future means not just empowering businesses in the energy market — it also means investing in the next generation of young professionals. Through its internship program, AECO Energy continues to nurture talent by providing hands-on learning, mentorship, and real work experience in a dynamic industry.
We introduce Carys Ann Tebby, is a scholarship recipient currently pursuing a rigorous undergraduate degree in Economics at the National University of Singapore (NUS), one of Asia’s leading universities. Carys returned to AECO Energy for her second internship in 2025, where she further advanced impactful research supporting the launch of our product – Gemini.
From Engineering to Data Analytics:
A Journey of Growth
Carys first joined AECO in 2021 on the engineering side — conducting research into carbon credits and learning how energy systems and software come together in real-world applications. That early experience sparked her curiosity and gave her a glimpse of the global energy market beyond textbooks.
Fast forward to 2025, and Carys was ready for a new challenge. Now pursuing a degree in Economics, she saw the internship as the perfect opportunity to explore data analytics and research in a business context. When she heard AECO was launching Gemini — a product that would require data-driven research and insights — she knew this was her chance to dive deeper into the analytical side of the energy industry.
Carys’s role involved compiling data, researching market trends, and preparing reports to be reviewed by senior leadership. Working closely with team members like Darryl and Dylan, she helped refine research outputs in true collaborative spirit, experiencing firsthand what it takes to deliver work that matters in a professional setting.
Learning Beyond
Textbooks
One of the most valuable lessons Carys took away from her internship was resilience. She learned that challenges are part of the process — and that breakthroughs often come after perseverance and a willingness to ask for help. This internship pushed her to keep refining her work under time pressure, reminding her that real-world problem-solving requires both grit and curiosity.
Carys also reflected on how much she grew personally. From presenting research findings to adjusting her approach based on feedback, she gained confidence and learned how to communicate complex ideas clearly. These skills are exactly what future professionals need to thrive in any career path.
A New Perspective on the Energy Industry
Before joining AECO, Carys admits she didn’t fully understand the intricacies of the energy market — especially the roles of intermediaries like AECO, which connect energy producers and consumers. Through her internships, she gained a holistic view of how different parts of the indus try — from finance and operations to HR — work together to deliver innovative energy solutions.
She also discovered the importance of sustainability markets and their growing significance in the energy ecosystem. This eye-opening experience reshaped her understanding of the industry and highlighted new career possibilities that align with her strengths in data and analysis.

Connections
For Carys, what stood out most about her time at AECO Energy was the people. The team at AECO Singapore created a welcoming, supportive environment where interns are treated as valued contributors, not just observers. From spontaneous lunch invitations on the first day to dedicated brainstorming sessions with mentors like Dylan, Carys felt encouraged every step of the way.
These moments helped her build not just professional skills, but lasting memories and meaningful connections that she will carry forward into her future career.
Looking Ahead
Now halfway through her university degree, Carys is inspired to focus on roles that involve data analysis — a path she discovered through her internship experience. She plans to leverage the analytical skills she honed at AECO as she explores career directions after graduation.
When asked if she would recommend the AECO internship to others, Carys didn’t hesitate — citing the company’s welcoming culture, hands-on opportunities, and the chance to learn from experienced professionals as key reasons why this internship is truly worth it.
Three Words to Describe Her Journey
Welcoming. Fulfilling. Eye-opening.
These are the three words Carys chose to sum up her experience — a testament to how internships at AECO Energy do more than teach technical skills; they shape perspectives and ignite curiosity about the future.
